Copy-in
The clinician reviews the note, signs it, and pastes it into the consult note field, confirming at that point what enters the record.
No software sits on the practice server and no credentials are held, so there is nothing to reconfigure at an upgrade and no field mapping to agree.
Secure messaging
The letter is addressed to the recipient's directory entry, travels as a structured clinical message over an encrypted connection, and is filed in the recipient's inbox. The network returns an acknowledgement when the receiving system accepts or rejects it, stored against the letter.
Delivery puts a document in an inbox. It opens no connection into that system's database.
Two-way synchronisation
Two-way synchronisation needs a supported interface published by the practice system, credentials issued to the third party for a named practice, and a mapping agreed for every field that crosses, each granted per practice and per product.
